*AWGU LOCAL GOV'T IN FOCUS* *COURTESY CALL BY THE EXECUTIVES/LEADERS OF AWONO OWELLI COMMUNITY TO THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF AWGU LGA.* July 29th 2020.

On the above date, the people of Awono Owelli Community paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Gov't Area, Hon. Pedro OKWUDỊLỊ NWANKWỌ "Eze Ome-ogo," in his office where they expressed their happiness for his emergence as the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Gov't Area.

The Spokesperson and the PRO of Awono Owelli Community, Chief Ezechinedu Pharm Josephat Ekemezie Ọbasị thanked the Chairman for giving them audience despite his tight schedule and for his humble dispositions in managing his office.
They made him understand that the visit had earlier been planned but was thwarted by COVID-19 pandemic. They expressed their happiness over the Chairman's proactive and insightful approach in managing his office within a short period in office.

While addressing the Chairman, the Spokesperson said, *"last time a team of health Committee members visited Awono health center and assessed the structure and we the people of Awono Owelli Community are very much happy with your (Chairman) approach.*
*The health Center is at the roofing stage. (he presented the pictures to the Chairman).*
*Eze Ome-ogo, we are soliciting that your able government should assist us in roofing the health center and in it's completion.*
*The structure was done around September last year by the past administration but time couldn't allow them to complete it. We are seeking for your intervention."*

They further implored the Chairman, *"to kindly reach out to His Excellency the governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyị, in asphalting the road from Ihe to Enugu Owelli to Amabor Obodoasaa which has two tributaries one to Ogbaku being tarred now and the one that goes to Awono Owelli to Umuhu Owelli, connecting the old Enugu Portharcourt Expressway, yet to be tarred. The only section that is not tarred is from Amaborobodoasaa to Awono Owelli to Umuhu Owelli which is about 3 to 5 kilometers. Please plead with His Excellency, the governor, to extend the tarring to this road mentioned. Our people will be so glad as it will enhance easy transportation across Communities and also be of great economic benefit to Awgu Local Government Area Council in general."*

Other of their requests includes the engagement of their people, Awono Owelli Community, in civil service jobs both in the State and local government. They affirmed their request by saying that they have qualified people from Awono who can rightly fit into civil service positions and make Enugu State and Awgu LG proud.
They also requested that one of the renovated Community Secondary School in Awono Community should be converted to a Skill acquisition center/E-learning school.

*"We want to thank you again, we are thanking you having seen how you started.*
*We are not thanking you to praise you, we are thanking you to encourage you. We will continue to pray for you. We will always support you so that your good intentions will be achieved. You started well, the Chairman's lodge under construction, we went round to see it and other projects your Administration is executing in our different wards (through the councillors).*
*We also pray that wisdom that was given to Solomon, you will work with that same wisdom. We are encouraging you, God is your strength."*

The Executive Chairman while responding says,
*"I'm so glad. I will have to start by appreciating God Almighty.*
*I will also like to appreciate His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who God ALMIGHTY used to make it possible for me to be here through the grace of God.*
*I want to also like to thank you people, the people of Awono Owelli Community for the support and for the fulfilment of all the promises Awono Owelli made to me during the campaign and after the campaign. Thank you people.*
*What you people came for is something important and nice, it is one among the challenges the Local Gov't is facing. This health center is something we have taken upon ourselves and anything we can do within our capacity to make our health centers to be in good shape, that we will do. If we can put it in order, it will be very useful to Awono Owelli, Amabọr and other nearby communities as you mentioned earlier. The team of Health Committee led by my Supervisor for health have visited so many health centers in Awgu and I am yet to study the report. I want to assure you that your request about roofing of the health center is already considered. By the time we study the report, we will know how we can fully intervene further.*
*About the school, I will like to visit the school myself to have an on-the-spot assessment of the facility and it's usefulness. It's our duty to do what is right and we will graciously do our best. Thank God the structure is already there, meaning that the challenge is lesser.*
*The road: The Supervisor for Works, Ikenna Okolie, will take me there. Thank God he is here, so that we can see it and list it among the projects we are considering. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is very much in love with Awgu Local Gov't Area and we have consistently been engaging him on the areas that needs state government's intervention in Awgu Local Gov't Area. We are happy about that. Your message will get across to His Excellency and I believe he will consider your requests positively.* *He has been doing it and we are assured in his  result-oriented leadership.*
*I can assure you again that we will do our best even if it is political appointments so that it can fill that gap of civil service lapses. What we will promise you is that we will look into that of the civil service and know what we can do.* *God will help us in the areas of our needs. I thank you people for coming. Awgu Local Gov't belongs to all of us. It doesn't belong to Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo nor his family members, we own Awgu equally and every of your request is your right. Thank you once again for your support and your love."*
