The Council Chairman of Awgu, Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo "Ezeomeogo" condemns the public humiliation/stripping a woman, alleged to have plucked "Sacred Snail" from the community shrine, naked.

    Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo condemns in strongest terms an online video evidence of a woman publicly humiliated and stripped naked by some villagers in Affam Mmaku after she was being accused of picking "Sacred Snails" from the community shrine. The Chairman queried why the "people" of the area were the one fighting and defending the Deity instead of the Deity fighting and defending itself. He stressed that his office had on hearing the news conducted personal investigations while cooperating with the Security Agencies in Awgu LG and other Corporate Organisations in ensuring that right measures and approaches were taken in addressing the barbaric occurrence and forestalling such further inhuman treatment. As at the time of publishing this information, some number of arrests have been made while he is believing that further arrests will still take place.
